People of God, these are days full of anxiety producing news, but I come to share good news with you.  Through this Coronavirus experience we are learning to do ministry in new and exciting ways.  We are in a new normal, but that’s not bad.  For example:

  •          Pastor Matthew is recording a daily devotion that will be posted on our church website (www.hslcjuno.org) and our church Facebook page.  Check them out!
  •         Each Sunday,  a contemporary worship service and a traditional worship service are prerecorded and shown as livestreams on Sundays on our webpage, YouTube, and also our Facebook so that you can interact during the service or after the service with your comments and questions.  The contemporary service is streamed at 9:30 AM and the traditional service is streamed at 11:00 AM.  Both services are posted to the church website and YouTube for you to watch any time.
  •          A wonderful new ministry has begun as a result of the faith, care, compassion and hard work of Sarah Applegate and Sharon Machuga.  They are members of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church and are concerned about the wellbeing of our seniors and those whose health is compromised.  Sarah and Sharon have 40 volunteers from HSLC who have committed to calling all our church members and friends who are over 70 years old to do a wellness check and ask if they need help with shopping.  They want to keep them away from crowds.  They will also do this for those who are under 70 whose immune system is compromised.  If you know of someone under the age of 70 who may need assistance please call the church office or Sarah or Sharon.
  •          Our His Kids Ministry for children infants – 5th grade is hosting Facebook Live His Kids Online Family Gathering, a ministry activity that our young families can watch and do at home, each Saturday morning at 11:00 AM.  In addition, please visit the Facebook page often for family and children's activities, links and online bible stories.
  •          Our Soulfire Ministry, for youth in the 6th – 12th grades, is directed by Shawn Shapton and Connor Dennis.  Shawn and Connor are developing new ministries and activities to reach their youth through social media.
  •          Our Prayer Ministry remains fully intact knowing that these are stressful times and people have many prayer concerns.  Please share your prayer concerns with Debby Weeks (hankeaster1@gmail.com) or the Church Office (office@hslcjuno.org or 561-624-9663) and they will be prayed for throughout the week.
  •          Pastor Matthew and Pastor Frank still want to make themselves available to you for visitation.  That visitation will most likely have to be over the telephone because most assisted living facilities are on lock-down.  If there is an emergency situation and we are able to we will visit personally with you, otherwise we will gladly check on you by telephone.  Please call the Church Office or their cell phones.
  •          We have amazing church staff members, ministry leaders and Council leaders.  If you need them, please contact the Church Office (624-9663) (office@hslcjuno.org).  Your call and emails will be answered, but we are observing social distancing and many staff members are working remotely.
  •          In order that we can remain a healthy vibrant church and continue to provide ministry to our church family and our community it is very important that we all continue to be generous in our giving of time and financial resources.  As you are able please give electronically by going to our church website (www.hslcjuno.org/donate) or mail your donation to the church office.   It is deeply appreciated.
  •          Lastly, if you are getting tired of being isolated, know this, human beings weren’t created to be isolated.  Our Heavenly Father created us to be social creatures.  Under our present circumstances we need to find new healthy ways to do that.  I encourage you to reach out to one another through phone calls, emails, texting, facetiming, and yes, even write a note.  Especially during times like this people need each other.  You can bless others and yourself by reaching out and expressing Christ’s love.
